I use pumice based hand cleaner from Auto Zone. It removes everything from pine pitch to paint.

WD-40 works

I second WD-40. It is handy for many, many cleaning and lubricating needs.

Paint thinner or Turpentine here.

rubbing alcahol is what we clean the pruners at the nursery i work at with after pruning the candles off the topiarys. it works on the hands too and its CHEAP! ~Ryan

murphys oil soap works great!

As a florist for 20+ years and having to deal with lots of evergreen at Christmas - my favorite is Go-Jo brand mechanic's hand cleaner - or anything else billed as 'mechanic's hand cleaner'. This will take just about anything off including pine pitch, paint, most glues, you name it. Plus most of them have some sort of skin softener in them like lanolin and that really helps to keep your skin conditioned. There is also a product from Design Master called 'Mess Master' that will take stuff off without killing your skin - though it is a bit harsher than Go-JoÂ.
