What a great project! Can't wait to see how it all finishes!

This door in this color has always been one of my favorite things on Houzz.

Emily - LOVE the color! Do you have any idea what BM color would be similar??

We painted the door that is there now a deep intense red but we're just not feeling it. It feels all wrong for the natural / serene vibe we want it to have.

What do you think about the partial glass door?? It seems a little country to me, maybe more appropriate for a side door rather than a front entry. But I'm open to other thoughts.

In the remodel, I'm trying to keep everything really vertical to emphasize height. Instead of wainscoting, for instance, I'll do the entire wall floor to ceiling in wide boards. And all outside doors onto the deck are full length glass french doors.

In our rural area people typically are more practical than artistic, so you see a lot of partial glass doors, covered up with nasty screen or storm doors.

Ah the joys of living in the country =)

I forgot to mention, as far as color...I liked the dark grey that you tried out, but I was thinking that dark charcoal (almost black) might be interesting if you were sticking to neutrals. If I were going to choose a stand-out color, I'd choose from the blue end of the spectrum like a pale aqua, turquoise or grey-lavender. Probably, just my own color prejudice because my eye is tuned to those colors for my own house right now! ;O)

I purchased a new Thermatrue triple locking entry door a few years ago, and painted it with Behrs, color: “Baby Spinach”!When I was watching the British series “All Creatures Great & Small”, the vets English farmhouse (3rd photo) had a similar door and color! I was stationed at Lakenheath England Air Force Base for several years (I am a retired US Air Force Captain), and most farmhouses had bright colored doors. I still love my bright green door! @Sean Lincoln, that is a colonial style door not cottage. And the post you dragged up was 12 years old. And from a window and door installer not even a manufacturer in the UK to top it off.
