I've got a little Ariens snowthrower that I've only used twice but bought brand new 6 years ago with a Honda 5hp single-stage (where I live we don't see much of it but have had 24" several times some years ago), but I have it in case it comes...can't push that shovel much anymore at my age.
Anyway, the question. I used it yesterday on a wet 5-6" snow and it worked really well at first, then the blower started to chunk out this round icy crap instead of blowing the snow. Was this because the snow was too wet, or maybe the blower was too warm from the engine at the blower hole, or what? I kept cleaning it inside too keep it free from clogging, but it didn't seem to work very well. BTW, the auger was still turning so the shear pin was okay.
