My wife purchased a bedding fork for me this valentines day. I showed her the picture from one of the earlier posts in this forum, and now I can't wait to start turnin compost in a few weeks. since the weather warmed up lateley, my pile has taken off with wild reckless abandon with steam comming off when I peek under a few inches down.

I did an experiment a few weeks ago before all the frosts I have been having lately, involving a few holes in the ground and some relatively unfinished compost under a storage bin lid ( home of my first composting bin, but then the bug hit me and I am now a compost whacko.)I turned a small shovel of soil over and I had 3 wormies poking around in there. so that is definately a start. I read somewhere maybe on this forum about digging a hole and placing OM inside and every so often dig another hole and doing the same to ammend the soil but i can't seem to find it again. By the way, I figured out what was growing inside my compost, it seems that I have had tomatoes and peppers seeds and the warmth helped germinate them over the past few weeks.
