I have four wheel hoes. The one I use by far the most is the Glaser Wheel hoe offered by Market Farm Implement and Johnny's. It's really expensive new. I wouldn't own one for the new price, but I found mine for a great price off craigslist. It is considered a low wheel hoe, the same design as some Planet Jr. hoes. Maxadyne is another brand of this style.

When looking for a wheel hoe, look for the handles to be pointed to the tool, not the wheel. This is the most efficient type of wheel hoe. It doesn't matter what brand as long as it is of this style. Oscillating stirrup hoe attachments are the best, most efficient tool. The Stirrup hoe is great. It makes weeding between the rows almost effortless. With these two features, you'll absolutely have the most efficient design. When it comes to human powered implements, efficiency is the difference between getting a lot done while feeling great and getting a little done and feeling worn out.

Thanks farmerboybill...that's some good info I never even thought about. More to this hand cultivation than I thought. I looked around on the Glaser site and man that's a good place to start Christmas for next year. I'll keep an eye on craigslist also.
