Snowblower lacks torque any ideas

Hi i have a older 8hp snowblower . Over the last couple of winters the old girl has lost alot of its torque . Any ideas of what can be wrong ?????

Assuming the engine isn't simply worn out-

1. Check the carb/intake bolts to make sure you don't have a vacuum leak. FREE!

2. Change the plug, even if the old one "looks good". Sometimes that can make a world of difference. CHEAP!

3. Dump a fairly strong dose of carb cleaner in the fuel tank and run it. If the Main Jet is "slightly" varnished up, it would restrict the amount of fuel going to the engine. CHEAP!

Also the air cleaner and check the throttle linkage and governor for any slippage or binding. Do it rev as high with no load as it used to?. Steve

Not knowing the engine model or type it's hard to guess? As bill said it it an't worn out it could be carboned up. Especially if it's a flat head model.

Throttle vane frozen or sticky? I get that alot on my mtd which sits outside all year(no room).
