Best Echo string trimmer for a woman to handle

Hello,

My wife is of average size about 130 lbs and 5' 7" tall. She loves to work in the yard and wants her own trimmer. I have an Echo SRM 265 which I love but it is too much for her really.........I wonder if there are any women out there who are using Echo trimmers and what your advice is on the best model......it is strickly a residentail lawn with no heavy duty work required out of normal grass trimming........

SRM210 with tap advanced head. Sell in big box stores. 5'7", don't get the GT200.

The Echo GT200 is a light yet powerful trimmer that might serve her well.I have the older version, the GT2000, and am very pleased with it.It starts easily and runs well with little vibration.
IMHO, the cheap box store brands are a complete waste of money. Old Chinese proverb: Pay more money, cry once. Pay less money, cry many times.

I have the SRM-210SB. A few considerations among the lighter weights GT-200i, GT-225i, and SRM-210i. Select one that has easy starting. GT-200i and SRM-210i claim 75% easier starting and GT-225i is 30% easier to start. Gt200i is 17% lighter than SRM-210i and 6% lighter than GT-225 (225 is advertised as a new one). Both the GT-200i and SRM-225 are curved shafts of 48 inches. The SRM-210i is a straight shaft 59 inches long -- and after putting a pound or so at the end of a shaft 11 inches longer - weightier. After a season or two, including proper maintenance, harder starting can be a problem - so to me, that drops the SRM-225i out if one is 75% easier to start versus 30%. The weight and shaft length removes the GT-210i leaving the GT200i. All 3 have Rapid-Loader heads -- place a length of cutting string in the head and start cutting - with no loading of 20 ft. of string. Happy hunting but leave the final selection to the user -- much happier, or fewer complaints, when self imposed.

I have the HC151 which have the same engine 21.2cc. It is getting easier and easier to start with time!!! Now it is always 3 pull. Prime until feeling resistance, prime 2 more times, close the choke and pull. When it started, open the choke ASAP and it will run nice.

Make sure fresh gas, clean filters. I use 91 octane and Stabil. Occasionally I treat my stuff with Sea Foam.

I still like the tap advanced head. Be it GT200 or SRM210, I would get the tap advanced head.

If by too much you mean too much weight, then one option would be to get a good harness for her to wear. I know if my wife were trimming I would rather buy a harness for her than buy second trimmer.

If too much is too much power, then any of the above or maybe even electric.

If starting is an issue, the elastostarts are supposed to work well but I don't have any experience with them nor have I read much about how well they work.

According to my friend, the Echo "i" start works real well. You just pull the cord slowly to wind the starter up. At the end of the pull, it will snap back and start the engine. He really like it.

Regarding of using harness. I have a big heavy Honda 31cc trimmer. I use a harness and I can comfortably trim for one hour without feeling tire. That might be the cheapest way.

I don't think too much power is a problem. I used to have to trim waist high weeds, so I got the big Honda. Now I just use it to trim the edge of the lawn, still work very well.
