any guesses on what type of privet maybe?
here is another pic

there is construction going on next door, and a bulldozer took out a good 20 plants and the builder said they would replace but I have to figure out what they are....

Ligustrum ovalifolium would seem likely, however there are
any number of cultivars and probably a few hybrids so exactly
which one you have is anybody's guess.

They don't look like evergreen privets so that would rule out Ligustrum sinense and Ligustrum japonicum (or perhaps they are not evergreen in Wisconsin).

I've never seen a privet like that, so no guesses from me. If they seem to be a common hedge in your area, perhaps check with a local nursery.

Some privets are considered invasive (Ligustrum obtusifolium and the two I mentioned earlier, you might want to check with your state), so replacing the privet might not be the best idea. But, as I said, check for your own area first.

thanks for the replies everyone
no its not a common hedge around here unfortunately but I think it might be a Ligustrum ovalifolium as saltcedar said or possible a hybrid of it. i did find a pic of a few weeks earlier while it was still green that would seem to fit the other images of Ligustrum ovalifolium that i was able to find

thanks again for the replies
