We need help! How much white cabinetry is too much?!

Hello!

My wife and I are doing some remodeling in our open floor plan. We love the traditional, cozy, country feel. With that, we are installing white built-ins and windows around the fireplace. However, we also love the idea of white cabinets in the kitchen. Since this is all in the same "room", in addition to a white table, is this overkill on the white?

We need someone to talk us in/out of this before we make a great/horrible decision. Thank you for reading this far! Thank you for all your input!

Attached are pictures of the tv room (with wife watching the Olympics opening ceremonies) and kitchen, as well as the inspiration for the soon-to-come built ins/window.

I love the picture with the shelves and window. I dont think its too much at all are you going to mimic the small windows also?love the rug in that picture also.

Love, love, love the room with fireplace! You have great style and I think white cabinetry would be stunning in the kitchen.

I agree! Your inspiration photo is awesome and it just makes sense to repeat the white cabinetry in the kitchen since it is an open layout. From your pics it doesn't look like you will have too much white at all! There will be plenty of color on the walls, rugs, etc.

Go for the white, it will unify the space, and be one less thing for the eye to have to take in, leaving the attention on other things in the room, like a rug, art, accessories, pops of color, etc.
It will not be a horrible decision, it will be awesome!

Yes, go white!! It will give a look of clean and continuity. You can always accent with color and character pieces. Love the inspirational picture... I believe there is some pottery barn furniture in that room. Very pretty.... go for it!!!!

You can absolutely put all white cabinetry in both rooms. In fact, it would look better if you did. Go for it!

I agree with what everyone is telling you. There is no such thing as too much white cabinetry. It is classic, neutral, and cheerful, and it will unify the different rooms of your house. We have an older house with off white trim throughout, as well as off white built in bookshelves, china cabinets, and kitchen cabinets. We deliberately used the same paint color for all of the cabinetry as it creates coherence between the different rooms.

Definitely not too much! It's already a beautiful room, and it's begging for more. Sometimes more is less. You might consider mounting the TV over the fireplace. I would also replace the bar stools with something like these found at Pottery Barn.

Thank you everyone! For all the wonderful comments. We'll definitely post the "after" pictures. The inspiration photo is from Pottery Barn, we're pretty much matching it exactly, windows and all. Not sure about the beadboard on the top part, we have a lot of beadboard in the home already. How much beadboard is too much? ;)
