Model 139.53990D I did the install this week, but bought the opener 1 year ago. The labor warranty has expired but will see if Sears will work with me. I am performing this test as if the power is out at the house.

I pull the handle to release the outer trolley from the inner trolley. Lift up the door manually. The outer trolley seperates from the inner trolley and slides back the rail. I go to close the door manually and the outer trolley slides towards the door/spring. I have the handle tripped back to the proper position, and the two trolleys butt against eack other. The outer one will not ride up on top of the inner one. The emergency handle has no part of this problem, as the two trolleys meet and stop, not connecting back together. I have checked all my measurements more than once and am at a loss. Help!
