It will work. But it may slow down the incoming air a bit.
Go with the largest mesh size you can get by with and still catch the mosquitos. Don't use the tightly woven nylon that is almost solid.

I'll second what cactusfreak wrote. The finer the mesh; the quicker the screen becomes clogged with dirt and dust.

I'm wanting to put screen in my door. The door needs to be open for the air to circulate in the summer but the blasted cats that roam everywhere won't stay out.

I've also been having a problem with carpenter bees drilling holes in my shelving. I don't mind the drain holes so much but the mess they leave on the shelf underneath the hole is ticking me off. LOL

Also I never thought about the bees, and have plenty of them in the yard, and don't want to be fighting them in my little green house.

I use screening on every entrance and exit in my greenhouse. I hate the wasps and bees.

I hate 'em too. I'd rather be a screener than a screamer.

4 Windows, roof vent and a full-length panel that removes with screen behind. Only opening left is the door, it gets a screen this season.

I bought one of the foggers for the skeeters two years ago. Once a week, I just fog the greenhouse and it keeps the population down, I also burn the skeeter sticks, I recently read that they hate the smell of sandlewood, so I bought a small inscence burner and fire up, LOL.....

hmmmm... an inscence burner, brings me back to my youth. I think I will try that too, along with screens. The dollar store is a cheap place to get inscence.
