JB Weld Question

I have never used JB Weld, but heard many good things about it. My grandson has a small cannon replica that is made mostly of "pot" or "white metal". One of the axels cracked off. It is about 3/16" in diameter. The ends of the break look porous, making it possible to glue them back together. I know I can't silver solder, or melt it together. I was thinking of using a epoxy with a hardener, then the thought crossed my mind about using JB Weld. What do you think of this application? I even thought of just using Duco Cement because it is porous. Would JB Weld make a strong bond? I would appreciate your thoughts and experiences. Charles Ranheim
