Check the fuel lines, they are the likely culprit of the leak. Is this the first time you are starting it since sometime last year? The carb could be gummed up. I am guessing there are some maintenance issues with the machine, on top of the poor quality of the saw.

If you are not comfortable with engines, I think this thing is better off on Cragslist for $10 or whatever "as is". It will not be worth it to take it to a mech to fix it. If you can't fix it decide if you really need a chainsaw and will take care of it. Then go get yourself a $2-350 saw. Stihl, Husky, Echo and there are others that are worthwhile. But concentrate on dealer support and that will likely be the first two, with Echo in third.

Thank you for what I'm sure is good advice. I realize it's not worth paying anyone to fix. I'm a pretty accomplished motorcycle mechanic so I imagine I can figure it out. I found it confusing that gas seemed to be leaking from the bottom of the saw; it wasn't coming from the air cleaner so I'm confused as to the source but I'm sure I'll have a better idea once I get it apart. I'll report back what I find for the benefit of others. Thanks, again!!

Do you still have the PIA Ryobi? I need one for parts and I also turn them into R/C engines. The engine is by a world class builder, as you may have noticed if you took off the case.
