Ramsplitter log splitters

In an ebay search this evening, I found what appears to be Ramsplitter 16 ton log splitters again. They are either gas (honda) or electric and offer free shipping in the middle $900 range. The name Ramsplitter was not in the ad but they are built in Rockford Il. and look the same.

When I searched the reviews, all were good and I am wondering if anyone here has bought one recently.

A while back, there was a lot of discussion of them and much of the discussion at the time was a little negative. I think it was about product quality.

Ramsplitters are indeed being sold on eBay. The user dougd222 is the proprietor of the eBay store known as The Log Splitter Source, which, incidentally is the same name as the Ramsplitter website.

Many of the complaints against Ramsplitters were based on misaligned welds, which some said were caused by welding "freehand" rather than using welding jigs. I have no direct knowledge whether that was true, but I hoped to see an announcement that welding jigs were now being used for accurate assembly of Ramsplitters, and I haven't seen such an announcement yet.

Interestingly, their 20 ton log splitter line is now also available with the electric motor option. They use a 3 HP electric motor with recommended 220 VAC power.

I hope they start using welding jigs for accurate alignment.
