I've had a 1987 M. Wards (MTD) lawn tractor up until 2007. It had a 2-blade 38-in. deck, and 2-bag bagger mounted on back....... no induction fan/blower to aid in grass transfer. The system worked great, and the discharge tube only clogged when I didn't empty the bags soon enough. Consumer Reports found that single and 2-blade decks (up to 46-in. on the Sears decks) worked more efficiently in grass transfer than 3-blade decks when there was no blower assist.

I now have a JD 425 EZtrak ZTR with 3-blade 48-in. deck, blower assist and 3-bag setup. It too works great, probably better than the MTD did.... it rarely clogs the tube and blower. However, when that does happen on the rare occasion, it's more of a job to open up the blower and clean out the grass from it and the tube.

John Deere 38" cut with twin bag and use high lift blades. Poor performance if the grass is wet. Like larso1, if I don't empty soon enough it plugs the tube. I occasionally scrub the tube out, let it dry and then spray it with wd-40 to help with the flow and reduce stickage.
