Remember 'Edna's Rose?'

This was a foundling that a person who frequented this forum gave me cuttings of a few years ago, and it's a beauty. It's a fragrant, purple or dark red once-bloomer. I lost all my info on its provenance when my hard drive crashed last year; so I can't remember who found it and named it after "Edna."

Do any of you grow it, or can you give me more info about it? When it blooms, I'd like to add a photo and description to HMF's database, and would like to credit the discoverer.

Thanks, Andrea and Trish - Yes, it was Martha from Missouri and her username is "PrairieWind." When I searched GardenWeb, I found a record of a thread about Edna's Rose on the Name that Rose forum from '03 (!), but the actual thread is gone. I'll try emailing Martha.

Trish, I'm so glad she sent you cuttings so Ashdown can enable others to enjoy this wonderful rose. I'm downsizing my garden, and this is the only once-bloomer that I intend to keep (don't worry, the others are going to good homes).

Andrea, if you'd like, I'll see if my plant has any suckers, or try to root a cutting for you.

I remember drooling over it. I want to say it was Martha from Missouri...and that's sadly all I can fetch from my memory banks. If I remember any more I'll update...
maybe 'prairie' was in her username..

I am drawing a blank. I do know that some one from this forum sent us plant material. What I can not put my hand on is the folder that would tell me where said material came from. My computer died and with it, emails with notes just for this purpose. I have manage to rescue most of them, but not all. I will keep looking and let you know when I find anything.

I emailed Martha through GardenWeb and haven't heard anything in response - perhaps she no longer posts or uses the same ID. But when the rose blooms, I'll be sure to take photos for HMF and credit her as the discoverer.

BTW, Andrea - I checked my plant over the weekend and there does appear to be a sucker that I can cut off. Let me know if you're interested.

Anybody out there? This is cecilia_md7a, but after 16 years of ongoing climate change, I think my username should be cecilia_md7b. I still grow Edna's Rose, and wonder whether anybody else is growing it. I wonder what happened to the cuttings that were shared with Ashdown Roses since it closed? Edna's rose is STILL the only once-bloomer in my garden, although I have downsized even more since I last posted.
