Hang up one those plastic owls up by tree limb when buying one get one head don't move so hang from head loop you want movement in owl by wind. That way have move every day are 2. Use good cord that take weather movement I use trotline cord. They work on pecan orchards. Maybe work for you hangem high in tree.

Crows hate owls! IMO that will probably attract them for awhile. Are the black birds starlings??????(starlings are not protected and consided a nussinces, they can be shot or trapped out) Red wing black birds and gackles are protected I dought you can prevent them for coming to your feeders and the other black birds are cow birds which are also protected in some states.. Crows are smart and run in clans, you have a family visting your feeder every day for food, and they the are birds. I guess you could put one of them big eyed balloons out but it will also probably run all the song birds off just like the plastic owl. But why have a bird feeder then.

I have all the above in my yard, but since I put up a weight-sensitive feeder and use only Safflower seed, I only have the nice song birds coming.

Just the other day, I saw that some doves figured out how to grab the rounded perch and sit there.

Wild Birds Unlimited. They're pricy but great quality. You can also buy them at HD, but within a year they are a rust bucket.

The one I have costs $104 but it looks the same today as it did years ago when I bought it. The HD model cost half as much and is junk in 6 months.

Another alternative is to fill your feeder with Safflower seed. Only the songbirds will eat it. Squirrels hate it. Since I switched the feeder stays full for a week and only nice birds come.
