I don't like the Easy to Start, the cord needs to pulled almost it's full length before the engine starts. A quick flip is all that is needed with the regular version and there is one less part to break.

I decided to go with the regular start Stihl BG 86. I could not justify the additional $30 for the EasyStart feature, along with the additional weight and potential failures of the feature. I have no problem starting it. Charles Ranheim

I have the Shindaiwa EB3410 34cc 400cfm, 200mph. It is still not very strong. I think you better off getting the biggest hand held if possible. I cannot in good consion recommend a hybrid 4 cycle like the Shindaiwa I have, even though I don't have problem with it. If I were to do it again, I would buy the Maruyama. Much cheaper and 5 years warrantee.

I went with the Stihl BG 86 because it was about the right size for what I need it for. I just needed something small for simple jobs like blowing out the garage, and behind bushes. I also use it to dry the car after washing it. It is something light enough for my wife to use as well. My primary blower is still my Stihl BR600 backpack. I have a Good STIHL dealer close by that takes good care of me, and provides me with technical information whenever I ask for it. Thanks for your "To Late" response. I am glad I am not the only one using the hand held for drying cars and blowing garage!!! I use it for windows also. Don't leave spots on glass, very useful.

Actually for lawns and leaves, I use my Maruyama bp which don't work well with cars and windows.

I find the problem with drying my car and van with the backpack is that I can't reach up as high as I do with the hand-held blower. With the small blower, I can hold it a full arms length over my head, and reach the roof easily. Can't do that with my back-pack. Charles Ranheim

I have the bg 85 model (actually the sh 85, which comes with the shredder attachments). What do you think of the 86 with the vibration reduction handle? When I examined it, it seemed like the handle was flimsy, but then I realized it was part of the vibration reduction system.

The vibration reduction handle works great. When I first handled the BG 86, the handle felt loose, but this is normal. So far, I am completely satisfied with the unit. Charles Ranheim
