WANTED: recommendations on soil pH meters

Does anyone have any recommendations on reliable, relatively inexpensive soil pH meters? I'm pretty sure we need to lime, but I want to make sure we only lime where needed, and only the right amount for the plants in each area.

Alternatively I'd consider somewhere that does soil tests, but I'd probably have so many test samples (3 acres) that it would be cheaper just to buy a probe.

I bought this one below. I preferred this model rather than the loose tester prongs. Anyway, it seems to do a decent job if you follow it up with a soil test to insure accuracy at some point.

Here is a comment from the website Journal of Extension joe.org:"A soil probe that was inserted into moist soil in plots provided poor response to soil pH and is not suitable for diagnosis of soil pH problems." Suggest a reading. Also suggest contacting your local county extension agent for advice.
