Well, I guess the fact that no one has responded isn't a good sign. Hopefully I will like this rose. I was intrigued with the description of the scent from Rogue Valley. They described it as smelling like baby powder that had just been applied. I just had to see what they think that smells like!!

I almost ordered it myself from RV but I was already getting plenty. Rose greed.;) It looked very pretty on the RV site.

You might want to give Janet at RV a call and ask her about it. She is really nice to talk to and quite helpful.

Hi aggierose, sorry i didn't see this, cant always log on.I got the Blessed Child last year, so it is a very tiny baby and hasnt bloomed for me yet. I live in Ohio and it had a bit of die back but has come back so far.

I was at Rogue Valley Roses late last year, wandering around the gardens...not very much was in bloom, but there was one large bush at the far end of the property that caught my eye. It had shell-pink blooms and as I approached I found they exuded a glorious scent. I was immediately entranced! I searched for a tag or sign to identify the rose but there wasn't any I could see; but the rose made such an impression that I filed it away for future reference...This summer when I had a chance I asked Janet which rose it was, and she beamed at me with pleasure. "That's Blessed Child!" she exclaimed. Needless to say, I had to have one! Janet's pride in her rose-child is well justified!

I looked it up on their website and Help Me Find. I love the coloring and form. The name is very sweet. If you have the space, I agree that you have to have one :)

Blessed Child was once on the list of "free" roses at Rogue Valley Roses; at one time, you could select one rose in the "free" group for each 4 that you ordered. We were told that this rose was bred by an amateur who wished to remain anonymous. It has bloomed perhaps 3-4 times this year and looks like some of the pink Austin roses; I do not recall the fragrance. It is in an area that does not receive enough light; we will be moving it to a sunnier location this winter.

I have to have one! :-) Where did you find yours? Is it possible to find grafted ones? I am trying hard not to order from RVR, it's very expensive there.

John, thanks for the interesting info about the breeder! Strange that you don't recall the fragrance; to me the scent was very strong; RVR lists it as "ffff" which seems right to me. Maybe the scent will improve with more sun? The plant at RVR is in a very sunny spot.

Summersrhythm, I don't know if they are available grafted; I rather doubt it. Burlington Roses has it as well as RVR.

Kristine, it is a private home and rose nursery with yard surrounding the home planted with roses. It might be best viewed with a call ahead to see if it was a convenient time. RVR really does not have a public "Display Garden" per se. Maybe Springtime?

I will check it out. I have set up a visit with Chris at Kordes in tbe spring as well. Who knew we had so many rose growers in our back yard

I dont know why I thought that Blessed Child was yellow. .Maybe that is Happy Child.

Anyway, what a fabulous color and form. I wish that I had room for it. Although the house next door is empty and probably will be for a long time. I could lop over from my yard but my luck would be that rose haters move in and rip everything out. I probably better just enjoy everyone else's

New flora sold right aftet I talked to Chris but I have been to RVR a few times. Janet is such a sweetheart

I was there before they hired their new administrator so things were a bit unorganized. It is wonderful to still have these family owned opetations for sure.

My Blessed Child from RVR is doing wonderfully. It has grown quickly into a 4' bush (so far), clean glossy leaves, wonderful blooms and fragrance. I can't recommend this rose highly enough, it is one of my favorites!
