Pappy, One of the safety switches is in the seat; the other is probably on/around the brake pedal, which must be depressed to start the engine. There might be one on the transmission to require that it be in neutral, and there is a safety interlock in the blade-engagement linkage. Probably the two referred to are the seat and brake switches. But before you start testing switches, I suggest a a few other - and easier - things to do.

First, make sure that the blade-engagement pedal is not locked "on." Second, charge your battery. Third, check for a blown fuse - it should be just in front of, and below, the battery. Fourth, check all electrical wires (including the battery cables) to make certain that they are tightly attached, and free of corrosion. Any of these things could cause your problem.

You will need a multimeter to test the safety switches. If you don't have a meter and don't know how to use one, AND if items 1 - 4 don't get you going, then I suggest a trip to your local repairman. Good luck on that, as my repairman is reluctant to work on anything but the engine on my "bug."

where would the safety interlock in the blade engagement pedal be located, I've checked everything else and they are ok.
