Indoor Plants - Plan needs professional input

Hello! This appears to be the right place for this, as I could not find it elsewhere. My apologies if it is not.

I plan on turning a room of my house into an Aviary, with some greenery to boot to let the little birds I have to adopt feel right at home. I have a plan to run by y'all, see what you think!

I'm going to pull up the carpet to expose the concrete, then I am going to use Retaining Stones coupled with Bricks to pin and secure a layer of Visqueen (Really thick industrial strength Plastic) into a container shape. I will put gravel in the bottom of it, followed by soil, and then the plants. This will not engulf the entire room. Probably only about 60% of it. The rest will be left to some gravel and stepping stones to hide the ugly concrete.

The only window in the room faces North (It is quite a large window though), so I picked low light plants. They are: African Violets, Cast Iron Plants, Snake Plants, Jade Plants, and one Ribes Sanguineum to be in the center of the room (Not sure what the nontechnical name for it is).

These plants are already verified to be bird safe, of course. My question is if this setup will actually function. Theoretically, the excess water should drain below the stones and not need to be completely drained out. I can use monitors for the soil to see when they need to be watered again. The other known problem would be mold and mildew, but I live in a brick home, which has spaces between the bricks specifically designed to permit the house to breathe (Whether it is enough or not, is a good question). I will also be installing a screen door to keep the birds in while still maintaining air flow in and out of the room.

If this setup will function, my next question would be what light source should I put in the room to supplement the window, and how deep should I make the soil. I can determine how far to space the plants from their respective sites, no need to pester y'all further with that.

Thanks for your time and consideration!
