TroyBilt and Stabil rocks!!!

I need a pole pruner, only once a year. It will cost me $230 to buy the pole pruner attachment for my Shindaiwa M242 and it is only 9 feet total.

Last night, I just remember I still have the old TroyBilt that I abused for a few years and left hanging in the shed for about a year and half with gas in it!!! I check the pole attachment, not only it is over 11 feet, it is only $109!!! So my biggest charllenge is to start it up.

Today, I took it out, few the oil( 4 cycle) and dump out the old gas. I had Stabil in it that time. The old gas looked clear. I put in new gas and pull. It was hard to pull the first pull, BUT, after 3 pulls, IT STARTED!!!! It smoked and smoked but it kept ticking!!! I ran it for 5 minutes, the smoke clear up. IT'S RUNNING!!!

Amazing. Stabil really work.

And also don't put down the cheap brands, mine worked more reliable than my $420 Honda!!! Yeah yeah yeah, it is only half crank, it is a cheap engine. But it works....after years and sat for a year and half!!!! My Honda crap out twice already in the last year and half!!!

You forgot you owned it, but remembered you had put Stable in it at the time? Sure...
You just wanted to brand bash. Good for you. Nobody around here would even pick up on that, you are smart, we are not.
p.s. Your post could use more exclamation marks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

Yungman isn't a brand basher. He just researches quite a bit before he buys something. It hasn't always worked out for him but he does ok.

His Honda story is not one anyone wants to go through with any piece of equipment, especially if it is one that was bought at a dealer.

English is yungmans second language. He does far better in English than anything I could do in a second language. I can't see a need to bash someone all around. Maybe ask him how he forgot about the trimmer before making assumptions.

I have 3 trimmer, The Troybilt was the oldest one. The last time I used it was because I had to trim in very dusty place and I was not going to use my expensive Honda!!! So I put gas in the TroyBilt that had Stabil for my other stuff. After I used it, I just hung it up in the shed. I could care less on that trimmer. It was because I want to get a pole pruner to use it one time, I don't want to spent $230 to buy the one for Shindaiwa, so I went with the cheap TroyBilt pole pruner. That was the only time I took it out and made sure it still work. Now I am done, it is hang up in the shed again. But this time, I did empty the gas, pull the engine to make sure it suck all the gas out of the carb.

And to Strip thread. You loss me on the brand bashing part. THis is a tool forum, where people talk about tools and experience. It is very un-becoming to be sacastic in this kind of forum. I just want to share my experience Stabil really works. Way over a year in the tank, only 1/4 full, in the shed through the summer heat. The gas was still clear when I poured it out. I think a lot of home owner might find this useful.

As for the Troybilt, it is cheap, but it out last my Honda!!! There goes to tell not everything is about brands. You can be unluck like me picking up a lemon even you paid an arm or a leg!!!

Yungman, I'm sorry I assumed you were a flamer(I think that's what people are called who "bash brands(just to stir trouble, or get paid off somehow)". Anytime someone says how great brand "a" is and how bad brand "b")is I get worked up, normally because it is Japanise VS American (I am from Quebec.), it just irks me. masiman explained English is your second language so again, sorry I sarcastically told you you needed more exclamation points. Ironically, I hate sarcasm and is not in my nature to be sarcastic. I don't frequent this board so I didn't realise you were a regular, I assumed you were a sh!t disturber, there is an abandance of that on other boards I go to so I guess I carried it to this one. Sorry. I looked back on my post from yesterday and can't believe I even wrote that.

No problem at all. This is the first time I heard about flamer!!!

    Anyway, don't sweat it. Cheers.

I spend a lot of time on ATV discussion boards and for whatever reason people there seem to always feel the need to stick up for their brand by bashing every other brand. They even make up stories that obviously never and could not have even happened just to start a flame war. Not knowing your situation I thought you were bashing Honda by comparing it to a cheap brand and basically saying the cheap one was more reliable. I now now that is not your objective, your story is actually genuine, but believe me, most of my stories I read on my ATV forums are pure giberish. Frankly, I've stopped frequeting them because there was too much B.S. going on. They took something good and ruined it.

Actually, my Honda works well now. Defects do happen!!! I love my Mantis but my first one they sent me direct from Mantis have no grease in the gear box!!!! Happen to the best of us. My complain at the time was Honda deny warrantee that turn out I found metal fragments inside the carb when I opened it up!!! Clean it up, put it back and run like a champ.

I am a gear head, even though I am a home owner, I own enough equipments for a two to three men crew!!!! My wife think I am crazy!!!

But as I said, you can pickup a lemon in any brand, it's the support that really counts.

I'll second what yungman said about Stabil. I put it in the gasoline I buy when I buy it. That way I don't have to remember when or if I used it. Some of my machines sit for a long time in between uses and I've never had any problems starting them.
