Boy, I hate to see that. I hope you can put it back together (assuming you found the panel!)

I had one window blow completely out of the track while we were putting the GH together (I left the handles just hanging there freely, not latched in any of the little holes). It flew about 10 feet and landed on the roof of our house, but it didn't damage it. The wind just picked it up and bent it backwards over and over again until it popped entirely out of the roof crown track. I was standing there watching and shrieking but that didn't seem to help. :-)

I also had to caulk the poly panels in my roof windows because they moved too much in the frame, and the wind wiggled one panel up so high it caught the exposed edge, and pulled it partly out of the frame. ARGH.

I still need to figure out how to bungie these things down tight. Even in the closed position a bad wind will open them up several inches and slam them down again. Did I mention I don't like my roof windows?

Barb, I gathered from another thread that you're waiting for HF to send you a missing door part? What are you going to do without doors? Yikes!

Another thought...not having doors on may be giving your roof windows a hard time, since the wind can get inside your structure. I read a scary post here somewhere about a HFGH that failed after the wind forced the doors open...then it all came apart. I wonder if you'll need to block the open doorway with something (not sure what) to keep it all safe? Argh, what a pain, you are being much nicer about it than I would!

No Barb I have not visited WI. Why would I want to visit Iowa? LOL I have never been north of the Mason/Dixion Line in my life. I know the effect of high wind and if the wind gets inside everything goes. It happened to me early on the morning off August 24, 1992 when Andrew took out the upstairs north facing windows of my house. Some time I will have to write abourt that. Sorry you had a problem.
