It is not very practical for daily use. After all it is 45 years old which is long in the tooth for any machine. As you have discovered, it is slow, heavy, LOUD, and parts are very difficult to find, new ones are non existent.Polish it up and put on the shelf as a conversation piece or sell it to a collector. Just my 2 cents (Cdn)

put it on a shelf. i have a 1958 mcculloch and have retired it. parts are impossible to get if it breaks.

given the safety advances with the newer saws, I would put it on the shelf as a conversation piece, however I would start it once in a while for fun.

I have a 71 Lombari lighting. Lightest chain saw made IMO. I used this for high up tree trimming in my younger days sometimes 70 feet off the ground. Never have had to replace a part other than the chain and bar. Agree the older ones are loud and they made alot of power, but they still can cut with the best of them. I would completely drain it and start it up every couple of years. Mine hangs in the garage.
