Go to the link below. If you can not locate the model number on your tiller just enter "horse" (without the quotes) for the model number and then your serial number. All available manuals for all horse tillers will come up.

Your tiller was made in early 1983. Check E-bay for manuals, always some there, of course you need one printed around your year of manufacture. REJ2.

Thanks for the help REJ2. I'm very happy with it. It doesn't have a bit of rust on it. The stickers are still in very good shape. Can I ask, how did you decipher the serial # to get early 83?

Nick, theres a troy bilt tiller club on yahoo groups. The owner worked a Troy dealership for years. He lists serial #s and years thru 1983, says he will update to include the later years sometime but that hasn't happened just yet. Anyone can join and its free, lots of good people with good info. Need some help i've got a troy bilt horse 8hp kohler engine serial number on transmission case is 862518. At the recoil cover the model # is M8T Spec# 301548 Serial #1728803312 I want to buy new tines for my tiller, I found some one line @ Custom Parts- part#BT1-1245GW OEM #1901118 I would like to know if these tines will fit my tiller.I also have a problem with my engage lever for my tines ,it stays engaged all the time ,I can't move the lever to the disengaged position. It just won't go all the way over.The last thing I had a question on for now was oil for engine and for transmission. Thanks for any help I could get on this!
