tecumseh ignition question

i got a newer 12hp tecumseh engine that looks similar to a 12hp briggs vertical engine about 10 years old.it is blown upbut i am wondering if the ignition chip or module that replaces points would be salvageable were it is located and if it will work on briggs engines info apreciated

The CD is in the coil on both of these- which would need to bolt up at the very least to be interchangeable.

Tecumseh generally used a three leg coil with two magnets on their CDI ignitions. Briggs uses two leg coil with one magnet on the flywheel.

Although it won't fit, the smaller Tecumseh ignitions look very similar to the old (1930's to 1950's) Briggs three leg coils.

Close, but no cigar.
