I added some old conveyor belting to the rotor so it just touches the housing. Made one heck of a difference in volume of snow and throwing distance.

I worked on a similar snowblower that was purchaced used.
It looked like someone had used it on a stone driveway.
I used some old truck mudflaps about 1/4" thick and cut strips and bolted to impeller, worked great.
That was about 4 years ago and they are getting some where on them, but alot cheaper fix than a new impeler.

Biglumber,It's way back in the shed behind a whole bunch of other stuff. When I drag it out for winter I'll try to remember to take some pics.

there is a guy named clarence that sell a kit that is very similar to mla's solution. a google search for impeller kit clarence should bring it up. People seemd universally pleased w/ it and the improvements it causes.

I have a 10hp mtd blower. I made my own kit, used the kick moulding made out of rubber for the impeller blades. It worked great for about 5 minutes, then the rubber started to break off in small chunks.Don't know what the problem was, but I will now try an old truck mud flap or something like that. It did make the blower work really fine, but I am wondering, why not just put a piece of rubber the proper thickness around the housing, instead of on the impeller. It would close the gap the same, but would see alot less wear. Anyone care to argue with me??? LOL
