I don't know how much snow you get, but if it is
significant I would recommend a 2-stage. I once
had a single stage 'thrower' and the only snow
it worked well in was light fluffy snow. The
heavy/wet stuff would clog it up.

Of the brands you mentioned Toro and Arens are the best. I have a single stage Honda new last year that amazes me how far it throughs the snow. A single stage will work fine for less than a foot of snow on a paved driveway.

Right now I have 6 Ariens snowblowers in my shop, Toro or Ariens would be your best bet. My Two cents. Patrick

I prefer Ariens equipment myself. I think the single speed that was described in the original post might be a problem. I have a 2 stage 9hp Ariens with multiple speeds. When the snow is deep & heavy, I have to run at a much lower speed. I find I have to pick the best speed to allow maximum throw without bogging down the engine, or clogging the discharge chute. I offered to help get a 1973 Ariens 7 HP Snow blower back from the dead. Model # is 10995 and it looks to have the original 7 HP Tecumseh engine. The "clutch" handle on the left is snapped and the spacer from the carb to the cover is missing. Can anyone help me out? Appreciate it. Checked e-bay on no one had the lever. GJ
