I just recently moved into a new home. The house itself is brand new with a deck (screend in porch with a cooking deck).

Should I do any kind of treatment, sealing, or staining to the deck, right now? Or, is this something that should wait a year or two?

Also, I thought about sanding it because, my wife has gotten a couple of splinters from walking around inside the screen porch. However, I've read in other places not to do this because, of the wood being treated..etc.. If sanding is not a good idea, anything else I can do?
