Composting Chipped Conifer?

Ive chipped a large amount of conifer (Cedar).

I also had my neighbor offer me the contents of his compost pile. which is a finished mix.

I have composted in years.

Ive started putting a mix of his compost and the chipped conifer in a pile adding some ammonium sulfate as it is mixed.

Wondering if anyone has gone down this road or just looking for feedback?

Chipped Cedar is great mulch. I wouldn't waste it in a compost pile. Let it compost slowly as mulch, while keeping bugs out of your garden.

I also wouldn't put finished compost in a compost pile. If it's finished, use it in the garden.

Since you are composting this material now what you are doing is good. Your largest problem will be moisture control, (not too wet and not too dry) and being sure there is sufficeint Nitrogen to feed the bacteria that will digest this very hig carbon material.
