I actually thought of trying there following my earlier post. Has anyone had experience buying one from either Northern or HarborFreight? They seem to be so much cheaper than a place like Grainger that I am concerned about quality and performance.

One of those motorcycle lifters would probably work for you. Might need a bit of adaptation, but nothing too hard to do.
Remember--most everything new, sold at those el-cheapo places, might be made in China! So, beware of shoddy merchandise!
