One of the Poulan Pro 32 or 33cc engine trimmer is not too bad. It is a full crank engine. I looked at the IPL, it is very similiar to Husky design. From what I gather, it is made by Husky. The 25cc is not the same, it is a half crank cheap stuff.

My newest weedeater is an old Garden Way straight shaft trimmer with bycycle handle bar. Weighs a ton,works great, has a Tecumseh engine. All my trimmers (6) are old. Most being Homelite.

well, really you can part these things out and keep some of the running for ever. Good example is the homelite I found with a bad connecting rod bearing which let the piston hit the spark plug when you rev'ed it up. Had that little knocking sound. Course all I did was remove the jug,piston and connecting rod assembly from my parts bin, and installed the jug, piston and connecting rod assemble and it ran like new, took all of 30 mins even as slow as I am!

Homelite gets a bad rap most of the time not that familiar with the newer models, but for me they are easy to work on and light. Course this polan has all the plastic molding hiding the engine, so it's alittle heavier.

Even if the polan didn't work out think of all the spare parts????? coil, carb. straight shaft, throttle cable assemble, screws, and on and on.

I know for non-mechanical types this would be trash and they would just walk on by. But, for use that rarely buy new and can keep most everybody trash running for a couple of decades longer we see the value in the parts department!

I am going to breakdown and buy me a new mini tiller this spring, finely worn out my little wonder. Hopefully the new models will last half as long as the first generation? if so it will outlast me!

I dont buy OPE anymore. I dumpster dive for it. This summer, I found a Toro and a LB SP mower that needed only a few bolts to be put into shape. Both start on the 1st pull and drive fine.
