Irrigation Help

We water our garden from a pond and are using a 5Hp pump to pump the water up to the garden. My garden is all organic and covers about ¼ acre, however we currently are able to water only about a third of that due to the size of our pond and the current drought.

Our sprinkler system currently consists of 3 standard sprinkler heads, which do get the job done. However, this causes us to use quite a bit of water with uneven distribution and ends up watering the pathways as well as the plants. My biggest dilemma though is fertilizer application.

I have a syphonject fertilizer injector and would like to use it with fish emulsion. Problem is fish emulsion sprayed all over the garden wouldnÂt smell too pleasant, plus I donÂt wont to pay to fertilize my pathways, weeds grow fast enough there the way it is.

This leads me to the thought of installing soaker hoses or some similar form of irrigation. I know I would need to install a filter to prevent the pond water from clogging the lines, but I suppose the big question is can I even run a soaker hose system with a 5 horse pump which produces about 40 PSI?

Any suggestion welcome.

Note: watering from a well is not an option. The old hand dug well is only 14 feet deep, however it has never run dry in living memory, but I would rather not push my luck.

Zach.
