I need your comments, please!

I just came in from doing "squish duty". Boy, those little green worms are bad--and I squished all sizes, believe me. I have been purchasing some hybrid teas every year and just using them as annuals, since I know they will not survive in our winters. Anyway, I found another Tropicana and a Gene Boerner at Home Depot--they are in containers. I was wondering--if I plant the Tropicana on the south side of my house, is there any possibility if I planted it deep enough, that it would go "own-root". I have had both of these roses before and if we had a mild winter, they were able to survive, but they eventually died. I would appreciate any comments, as I love the hybrid tea blooms, even though it is only for one summer. - Thanks Barb
