Too bad it is not a widespread problem. Maybe there would be few escapees into the wild if so. Nonetheless, squirrel baffle.

Well I researched this issue last year because I had Bluebirds nesting in a dead snag in the back yard, and a raccoon had climbed up and raided one of their nests. So to keep critters from climbing up a tree, you can baffle it with sheet metal. I bought some metal roof flashing, and secured about 24 inches of it around the trunk of the tree to keep the raccoons off the snag. It works very well, but you have to make the sure the squirrels can't access the tree some other way, like jumping from the branches of an adjacent tree or other structure. It probably won't look much better than the fencing though.

yes, squirrels will eat flower buds. If I were u though i would consider cutting this tree down and getting a different kind. Bradfords are considered junk trees and they sucker and produce a crap load of babies when they fully mature.

If you're concerned about it and if these are indeed becoming a problem in your region, then why don't you just replace it with another type of tree?

Bradfords family pears are now the enemy. Invasive offspring with thorns and the like. All over the local news. Thata why you arent getting much sympathy on here.

Feed the tree rats something tastier perhaps?

Recon you could train them to eat the wood like beavers? Or, maybe you could send one of your squirrels over hear to train my squirrels? My neighbor has a Bradford.

Whats the problem with them finding food and eating it Gosh humans and dogs cant eat it because its toxic and is even banned in some states. Gosh just let them eat They probably don’t have anything else to eat. I read they only eat that if its nothing else around for them to eat. How about you buy them some unsalted nuts instead of trying to throw pee on them. Would you like someone to do that to you if you were homeless and trying to find food to survive? I bet those squirrels planted many trees and gardens but humans just mow the garden away and chop down the trees which is their food supply and home. Bring us all of your squirrels We will understand and accept them. I’m hoping that cherred you up. But really squirrels are kool Yhey were here on earth way before humans and they were planting seeds that grew into trees and fruits and vegetables and trees helps us breathe. Research it. Squirrels are our friends. They are good and planted most of these trees etc. So they should be able to eat from the trees too.
