Most likely an older model number from a previous year for the same machine. Ask the dealer BEFORE he delivers it!

That's the funny thing. The manuals that I received (specific to the 1226 model) were printed in April of 2007- so it can't be from a previous year. Also, there is one US dealer on the web that has this model listed as a current one, but I can't find any others that do. Maybe it's not that big a deal, but I'm just curious. Either way it is a beautiful unit and I will enjoy it for a long time.

The 1226 is rated in Torque.

The other in HP!!

For me a rough rule is .68 times torque is equal to HP.

On the 1226 with a Torque rating of 12 times .68 equals 8.16 HP.

I'm in Cedar Grove, about midway between Sheboygan and Port Washington, right along the Lake Michigan shoreline. We've been getting a fair amount of snow so far (I guess around 12-15" this month) and my old Jacobsen snowblower died with the first snow. Couldn't get parts anymore, so had to buy a new one (shucks). Went with Simplicity because of the reputation and the fact I know some of the guys that build them, since the factory is only about 15 miles from here. It is too bad, though, that they are closing the plant and moving everything further south.

Thanks for your info on the torque rating. I was thinking this may be it. I just thought it was weird I couldn't find much mention of this "alternate" model number anywhere except at foreign websites.

I bought a 1985 Simpicity 860 walk behind blower. The problem is the auger drive belt keeps coming off. It comes off even when it is running empty. The auger is hard to turn by hand even when the belt is off. Can anybody help me. My back is sore from scooping.
