Hi, are the exposed beams on the ceiling real wood or faux styrofoam?

Want to know whether the faux- which is much cheaper- creates the same look.

Would you be kind enough to share the dimensions of the beam. i have 17x20 living room and want to put 2 beams. I was thinking 8 x 6 but not sure if it would look to skinny for the room. thnnks

If only (2) beams in a room that large - 8x6 may seem a bit small. Thanks and good luck.

Thanks you. The foyer which is 12 x 16 opens right to the living room. To the left of the living room is the kitchen that is 17x20 that will also have 2 beams. I am putting 2 in living and 2 in foyer and 2 in kitchen. Would you be kind enough to suggest a size for the beams?

The faux beams do look the same. I have them in a family room with vaulted ceiling and no one knows! Untill my husband tells them. Then they are quite surprised to find they are faux styrofoam.

I am wondering if anyone can give me an approximate price that a contractor would charge to install wood beams similar to this (excluding the cost of the material as I will do the research on either salvaged wood or faux wood beams)......just looking to see if there is a approx labor cost for someone to install such beams? my LR/Kitchen area is 41' x 15'wide and because of spacing for lights etc I am thinking i would need to do 7-8 beams. any guidance/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
