I just think it needs a bigger bowl. :) If you feel you want more, pair the bowl with the vase on the left and the picture by itself on the right.

The chest is overpowering the art a bit. If you changed the chest to a lucite table, the art would stand out and the funky bowl might just look at home.

I like your chest and would keep it. Storage is always important. I think you've done very nice job of mixing traditional and contemporary, not an easy thing to do!

The console stays. It took forever to find a console that I loved and would fit. The measurements of the space as well as the height of the trim made it difficult.

Perhaps a vertical white ceramic piece to tie your fascinating bowl to the painting? You might consider a Johathan Adler vase or ceramic animal.

Point well taken Carolyn. we are here for advice and ideas....but there is more than one definition of 'vote'... the one you are referring to is not the one I was using. :)

i would place a lamp on the left, off center the bowl caddy corner on a couple of books, and place a medium size floral on the right just behind the bowl/books....

The bowl is great, but I think I'd move it elsewhere and use a piece of tribal art or mask on a short pedestal. It would add another texture, and would act as a visual and textural bridge between the painting and the cabinet.

Find a woven material with small modern print that would fit with the color of the painting,the size of the console.

You need a skinny lamp on the left. Fill your bowl with beads and place a small picture frame on the right.

I love the console - it looks like it belongs there. Not sure about woven anything. The artwork seems to have a lot of visual texture.
What about a silver bowl? or pewter. Also like the idea of flipping the artwork vertically.

The bowl is too busy and should be simpler. The painting is busy and they need to compliment not fight each other. The painting probably should be vertical. It is an area where you probably want to emphasize height so vertical is going to help draw the eye upward.

My Foyer is 2 Story with this chandelier a few feet in front of the console and these paintings to the upper right (facing the console).


My bannister is black high gloss, I have a silver stool next to the door (I moved it under the console just to see) and a silver, grey, black and white rug in front of the door.

I would take out of the area the bronze jar under the console....move the wall art a little bit to the right and lower it a litle bit more..(3 inches,almost touching the console)..and find something tall and skinny with one of the colors of the wall art (not white)..Just find another place for the beautiful bowl, a place where the bowl will be the focus.

The stool is silver, not bronze. Must be the lighting. I I like the idea of the tall skinny vase. You all have given me so many great ideas. Not sure why I didn't ask for help sooner LOL!

The silver jar is too much in the middle of the entry piece and lined up with all else.Too centered.
Seems like less is more and the stool might be too much. Would put an odd number of something smaller and silver in that area.

I really do not think your foyer needs anything added, really... However, I feel your bowl - albeit complementing the rest of the design beautifully by shape- is a bit too narrow for the space. Basically, the proportions are a little bit off, and that's why you feel it is missing something.I would look for something wider, but not any taller, to replace the bowl. Adding another piece would just make the foyer too cluttered and will distract from the art piece.

The bowl is great, just move it to the left or right, pair it with two other items of differing heights in colors that are in the painting. Maybe get a table runner of one of the bright colors in the picture to run lengthwise on the chest that way it doesnt cover up the wood but will bring the colors of the pictures down to bring it all together!

Looking at your beautiful entry I feel as if the chest is too much. Find a console table that is open and airy so you can add stools/baskets some texture to the bottom of the area. I would try and flank the table with 2 lamps, small piece of amazing coral in the middle. I feel like your white bowl does not work in this space. I love your art and everything should work to enhance it in your entry.

Use red /magenta or a color that works with the painting underneath the console but use the smaller odd numbered pieces. Simple lines I think .
If you do something to the wall then just a darker gray shade of the same color. Even metallic if you want a lot of drama.

I would suggest a lamp off set from the center in an organic shape, picking up one of your colors. I see just a touch of red so I would recommend something along this line. Nothing else.
