Labradorite granite or quartz?

I just visited several stone studios and they tell me its Labradorite Granite and not quartz. I would have to purchase the whole slab of granite to use a portion, so is it a different material that I can purchase only as much as needed? thanks, I love the surrounds.

The supplier we purchased the material from called it a granite, Labradorite Jade. http://pietrafina.com/online-inventory/granite/labradorite-jade/ is a link to the supplier's website. Try looking for a remnant which is a left over from a different job, they are usually a better price compared to a full slab.
