Rose Pics

I'd been posting my various roses on my hobby blog recently as they bloom. I thought folks here just might enjoy seeing them.

I was also thinking you all might be able to clue me into what two of my roses are-- one red one was there when I bought my house, and the other was SUPPOSED to be a Kaleidoscope but seems to be some sort of red climber...

Anyway, my roses have all been labeled on this page. So if anyone has any insights on my mystery roses, I'd love to hear your ideas.

I'm excited that I just got a Joseph's Coat and a Ginger Syllabub that hopefully will bloom this year, too. (And not turn out to be another mystery rose!)

Best Regards and thanks in advance,

Jenn

Wow, your pics are great and I love the intros! Your mystery climber is a beauty. I just got Ginger Syllabub this spring too! Maybe we can compare growth as time goes by... I am looking for very resistant red and orange roses. Brandy

The red unknown reminds me of Olympiad the last once a year my guess is its' the Doctor...Fr Huey Rootstock for a good number of roses and quite often after the rose grafted to ti has died the Dr blooms each year. There are a good number of them on the fences just south of outr garden

Thanks for taking a look and for the insights, everyone! I'll enjoy checking out Olympiad and The Doctor and seeing if they're my mystery roses. It's been bugging me for years!

BrandyRay, I'd love to hear how your ginger syllabub grows this year. It looks from the pics like it's going to be a real beauty.

    Happy gardening!

The last one is definitely Dr. Huey. Anytime you expect one rose and get a once blooming red rose, your odds are pretty good that the scion died and you have the rootstock Dr. Huey.

    Happy gardening.

You have some gorgeous roses--I love Helen Hayes----If I had the room and had more sun I would try her---HH had a beautiful rose garden at her home in NY state----and her home was full of roses---prints---fabric---etc.

I loved you section on collecting---It made me laugh--You sure have a way with words----
    My home is overflowing----LOL

Please come back and show us some more roses.

Jean, That's great information on our friend Dr. Huey... I feel less gypped now because of it, too. :-) I thought Jackson Perkins was having a really off season.

Florence, I didn't know Helen Hayes was a rose fan herself as well as a fine actress. Her rose namesake really is lovely... and so changeable every day. That pinkish peach cast the bloom gets as it ages is absolutely a favorite.

Thanks everyone for being so kind. So glad you enjoyed the collecting section, Florence. I suppose the rose "collecting "is an off-shoot of all the other collections. :-)

I hope to add my angelface, blue girl, love potion and the joseph's coat and ginger syllabub to pics once they get going. The first three seem to be having a hard time of it this year... we've had very dry weather for a while, so I think that's the delay. No amount of extra watering is making them enthused.

Have a lovely weekend (off to put down mulch now!)

If Johnny Depp were a rose, he would be Don Juan (especially after playing that part in a movie. yum)

jenn, I love that Helen Hayes. I'm going to add her to my wish list. And I also have the Don and love him.I'm thinking of getting another since mine is a HD body bag and seems to be petering out.

Buford, I wish you the best of luck with Helen. Mine is now getting ready for her second wave of flowers this summer. I'm not even a big fan of yellow, but I wouldn't trade her for anything.

Triple B, your comment made me laugh-- and I'm in agreement with you on that one. :-) That was actually where my nickname for that rose came from. Too funny!

I think I may have to watch that movie again.
