Please don't place the crown of a plant into a container of water. It will rot. Place the scraped trunk of the plant (no rot) into good moist vermiculite or even your special AV mix. Place a plastic bog completly over the plant and pot. Leave for two weeks. Rooting will begin with the extra humidity. Don't break the fragile roots by looking to see if they are growing.

Time and patience will produce great roots.

i did all that and they kept dying, i stuck just the stump in water and all the leaves are crisp again.they haven't rotted and are looking healthy . i'm gonna put them in perlite when they have roots and then move them to my regular mix
