No problem about coral nymph. It ws beautifully.

I've winter sowed Lady in Red and Coral Nymph and they did great. I haven't tried any of the others but if I had seeds I would. I have Salvia Hormium that I winter sowed this year and it sprouted already! I also winter sowed clary sage one year and it did great..popping up early.
    Good luck!

The only salvia I've ws in the past was blue bedder which was very successful. I have a couple I'm going to try this year.

I ws several kinds in early March last year and most did great. The only one I did of your list was coral nymph. I surface sowed them(do not cover) and spritz the seeds with water before setting out.

Will Salvia Splendens reseed in Zone 5? I sowed several varieties indoors last year (yes, indoors...I was chicken, and not too familiar with that type) and I'm wondering if I should sow more this year.
How well does it WS? When I did some one year, the plants seemed kinda small for the entire season, whereas the ones I sowed indoors last year seemed to have more time to bush out. Was my 1st year WSing them just a fluke? (plus, if Yvonne's Salvia is a Splendens type, that WSed great and grew a nice size for me...which might answer my own question...if I knew for sure YS is a Splendens)

Linda: There was a discussion some time ago (like maybe a year ago) on the Yvonne's Salvia group on Yahoo, and most folks felt that it is a strain of splendens. It does look like a splendens type, just an enormous one at that. Emily gets reseeders but says they don't get as big as those she sows indoors under lights.

I also WSed some splendens seeds from Parks last year, they didn't have great germination or growth. Some did survive the summer but were nothing to write home about. Neither were my nursery bought ones. (But since I WSed the Yvonne's seeds with great germination and got a 4 ft height, anything would pale by comparison).

Ok, I think I will just sow 1/2 now and 1/2 later.I will do more of the Coral Nymph and the Lady in Red than the others, since you guys have had success with it.And I think I am going to try my Sage also, thanks Joann!;)
Thanks so much for helping me out on this one and if anyone else comes along and has any advice on the others I would appreciate it! Thanks again,Angie
