Sometimes it takes time for some fish to get used to a new tank setting. My albino corys are active through the day - but not excessively so. But of course more so when it's feeding time!! Mine are about 4 years old now. I'm glad you got three corys. They really like company, and it's fun to watch cory cats school together.

Yes, But when i do put the food in the tank...they just stay at the bottom and ignore the food completely. Even if i wait for them to start goin up near the top they still just ignore the food. what should i do about that? is there a way i can get them to come up to get the food?

Corys won't eat from the top. They're bottom feeders. Let them settle into the tank a bit before you start feeding them. Or just feed them a tiny bit.

Mine will eat algae wafers as well as tropical fish food that floats down to the bottom.

It's fun to watch their little whiskers twitch as they're in search of food.

As long as they're active and swimming around, that's a good sign that they're settling in. Give them time. And don't overfeed thinking they're not eating when you feed them so you give them more.

Alright, yea, they are swimmin around just fine. They have never really bolted around the tank fast or had clamped fins, so i'm hoping they'll be fine. Although they are the only fish in the tank so far...is that ok to just have bottom feeders in there? and is it ok for me to just put some fish in there lets say tomorrow? i just got these ones yesterday...srry if i ask so many questions but this is my first fish tank...I just want some more fish to eat the food quicker so it doesnt rot.

believe it or not, some people keep corys in tanks alone, specifically for breeding. give your tank some time to build up the good bacteria to cycle your cories' wastes before adding more fish.

sinking pellets would be better than waiting for flakes to soak up water and sink. mine seem to know instantly when i have dropped food in the tank.

also, best to feed a variety of foods, say brands even, to be sure the nutritional requirements are met- i just hve problems keeping my hairy cat away from the aquatic cat food. they love frozen bloodworms, but i only feed a partial cube b/c the whole cube is too much. also, i break my sinking tablets in half.

they tend to be more active at night but keeping your lighting on a regular schedule is good.

Its pretty small...a 10 gallon...I wanted to start small, even if it is harder to take care of a smaller tank. Its not that i didnt want a bigger one, its that i didnt have anywhere to put the 55 gallon tank i was originally going to get.

Are you a dude or chick, and how old are you? you dont halfta say but i'm jw. I just would like to know becuase if you have replyed this many times, it seems like you care about other peoples tanks and their fishes well-being, and not many people will.

Cories (albino or otherwise) do vairious activies. They 'root' through sand gravel for food, and also if tank is planted go up and down along leaves, driftwood. I moved mine to a 20 gallon and it's like watching a kid on a bike, weeee... the love to swim up and down, even play in the water stream... as long as I am not coming near the tank (shy) they do this day and or night (tank is lower lit most of day, then hour or so up) Cories also come up for air occasionally so sometimes can flip over side so need lid or other surface breaker. repeating something I read while researching other cats, cories are like pigs, will eat anything but PREFER a mixed diet... (and not just left overs in other words) I make sure they get shrimp pellots, green pellets, and other live (frozen ) foods along with what the lone tetra leaves behind.. He also swims with them and helps them eat the pellet food... Best Sherry
