I need to replace my stair carpet runner and plan to install it myself. I want something neutral (like the photo below) and inexpensive. I'd really like to keep it under $150 and need about 22' long and 2' to 2'3" wide.

The issue is stair runner carpets (at carpet stores and Home Depot, Lowes, etc) seem to come in very ornate patterns and are very expensive!

I am open to using several area rug runners, but this doesn't seem like a cost effective option either. Plus I'm having a hard time finding one without a border.

Would love any insider tips!
