Regular pruning of azaleas isn't required other than removing winter damage or broken stems. I'm having trouble imagining why you would need to prune a plant so young. Of course if the shape needs improving, you can remove an errant stem or shorten one that is making it appear unbalanced....

Your fertilizer question is difficult to answer not knowing the fertility of your soil. My own is naturally acidic and fairly high in organic matter - I don't fertilize. If you have the ph adjusted to where you are satisfied, a half strength application of Hollytone may be fine, or may be unnecessary, but at this time of year at least should not be harmful. Have you mulched/top dressed around the plant with something organic to help condition the soil, keep roots cool and moist as your temperatures warm.
