Its not necessary to let them go dormant as soon as they finish flowering in fact the leaves will continue on and are quite attractive in their own right. Once fall temps get lower they will need to be brought inside for the winter of course. You can either decrease watering prior to that to let them go dormant or bring them indoors and keep growing them on if you have a sunny spot for them (make sure you're not bringing any pests indoors). Myself, I leave mine in their pots for storage over the winter then in spring repot in fresh soil; I find that easier than digging them up and storing them. But both ways are fine; its just your preferance. I am inclined to think that the bulbs will stay more healthy in the pots than stored dry but that is just my opinion. Good luck!

Judy, Definitely keep them growing after bloom as this is when they are storing food in the corm. If you don't want seeds cut off the bloom stalks. When the leaves yellow/die back the plant is dormant and you withhold water. Personally I always lift Calla tubers after first frost, remove dirt, let dry and store dry in the basement.

The main point to remember is if you allow to go dormant by withholding water in July/August your expecting the corm to have enough stored resources to last until planting time in the Spring. My timeline is plant (in ground or potted) in mid May, lift in mid to late October. Even with this schedule some of the hybrids are already sprouting come planting time.
