Rhodendron Micranthum

I have a R.micranthum that was doing rather well until last summer when my sister came to visit. She was helping me with the garden and, being an ex-hairdresser, she loves to prune. My lovely rhody is now, literally, a stump. I dug it up and the roots seemed to be ok so I put it in a pot in the shade, keep it watered and have my fingers crossed.

Is there any hope for a rhody that has been pruned back this severely? I would have thought if there was any hope at all, it would have done something by now. I have tried to find a replacement but it seems to be very uncommon.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Jane
