metal roof in florida

Planning to change my old concrete tile roof to metal roof. My home is 1960's single story home which I am trying to modernise. Hearing different things from different roofing people . One person gave an estimate by going through google earth --with some funky design software and gave a quote for gerard's roof for 32k. Another one for 26 k for standing seam. No one seems to like it when i ask to split up price between labor and material cost . Are all roofers like that?
What kind of roof so most people install in florida.. Most of my neighbours have some thing like a tile or shake roof. Have not seen much standing seam around.

Can anyone help me decide please

I was pricing metal roofs out a couple of years ago. Check out Gulf Coast supply. They had great pricing on materials.

No worries...they are in about 4-5 locations in Florida http://www.gulfcoastsupply.com Let me say this though........I am in NO WAY connected with this company. I was just very pleasantly surprised when i received an estimate for materials. It was a fraction of what i was being estimated through the installers i had initially contacted. I had prices in the high 20s and low 30s like yourself. This has been a couple of years ago, so I'm not sure if pricing has changed.

The shipping on materials was very reasonable/minimal. And no matter where you are in FL or who you buy from, those expenses will be passed to you anyway with any other vendors. In the end i was going to be able to put on a Metal roof for ALOT cheaper then my original estimates.
