There is no propane storage in this fire pit. Generally people will use a dedicated line of liquid propane or natural gas. A BBQ style propane tank will work, but will not produce the amount of flame the burner is capable of producing, because a tank does not have enough pressure. If you use a BBQ tank you would need to keep it a proper distance away,and run a flexible gas line from the tank to the fire pit.
